Charges of Sex Abuse at Oklahoma Nursing Home

A certified nurse’s assistant at an Oklahoma nursing home faces two charges of sexual assault after admitting to police last week that he assaulted two residents of the Bartlesville Care Center, about one hour north of Tulsa. However, state investigators have admitted that they have been receiving complaints of sexual misconduct about the caretaker since as early as 2003.

Franklin D. Hughes Jr., 36, of Bartlesville, was arraigned in Washington County District Court on charges that he an 83-year old resident and a 76-year old resident at the facility. The 76 year old resident has passed away since the alleged incident. In 2003 and 2007, at least two residents at the Nowata Nursing Center reported inappropriate sexual behavior as well, however the state closed the case after the residents were unable to provide details about the incident. The incidents were not reported to police by Nowata Nursing Center staff.

The charges comes just days after Jason Lynn Pearl, 31, was sentenced to two years in prison for physically abusing two residents at the Silver Lake Care Center, also in Bartlesville. Investigators said that Pearl recorded the incidents on his cell phone before later erasing them.
