An employee of an Ohio retirement home has been arrested and charged with nursing home abuse for an alleged sexual assault on a resident.
Police say Kevin Burns was spotted while engaged in a sexual act with a resident by another employee on Saturday at the Friends Care Community nursing home in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Burns was arrested earlier this week and remains in jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond, according to a story by WHIO News Talk Radio.
Elderly careĀ abuse can take many different forms, including physical, sexual or mental. It reduces quality of life for the victims and robs them of dignity, as well as possibly inflicting permanent and debilitating physical damage. Recognizing the signs of abuse can be difficult, and in many cases the victims are too humiliated to talk about what occurred. Signs of elderly care abuse can include:
- Unusual injuries or broken bones
- Unexplained loss of hair
- Changes in behavior of nursing home staff towards a resident, or residents toward one another.

I worked in a Nursing Home for ten years. residents do become confused and often accuse staff of doing things that were never done. Other co-workers can become jealous and say and do things to get even. Before writing all these negitive things about a man who may very well be innocent, maybe waiting for FACTS would be better.
