Missing Ohio Nursing Home Resident Found Safe

An Ohio nursing home resident who went missing Tuesday night has been found at another nearby nursing home.

Police investigating a nursing home elopement case say Delores Sunday, 81, left the Anderson Nursing Home in Cincinnati because of a fight with her roommate and drove to another nursing home on an electric scooter. She was found Wednesday morning unharmed, according to a story in the Middletown Journal.

The Anderson is a 100-bed, for-profit facility. The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rates it as a one-star (much below average) nursing home, which is the lowest grade a nursing home can receive.

  1. My father eloped from this same facility earlier this year. He was found outside in the snow. The owner of the facility assured me that measures would be taken to prevent this type of thing from happening again. Apparently, not much has changed. Very unfortunate. Families who have entrusted this facility to care for their loved ones should be warned.
